How Dewey Lawns Started
After spending eight years working at SXSW, Jes Elliott knew Austin inside and out—the festivals, the traffic, the hustle, and most importantly, the people. He saw firsthand how busy Austinites juggle work, family, and everything in between, often sacrificing their weekends to yard work or chasing down unreliable lawn crews.
That’s when the idea for Dewey Lawns took root: a lawn care company built around customer service, not just mowing grass.
Jes wanted to create something different—a service that respected people’s time, communicated clearly, and demonstrated reliability you could count on. No games. No surprises. Just professional lawn care backed by the integrity hammered into him by his dad on the path to becoming an Eagle Scout.
